Disgraced former Penn State assistant coach, Jerry Sandusky, has waived his right to have a preliminary hearing before his trial begins, a move that is being called "mind-numbingly stupid" by some top criminal defense lawyers.

According to TMZ, who spoke to a few top L.A. area defense laywers, a prelim hearing would have been the only way Sandusky's lawyers could have confirmed the accuracy of of the alleged victims' assertions since the crimes have gone so long unreported.

"Waiving the preliminary hearing is like laying down on the field for the first half of the game," one defense laywer said, before adding, "if Sandusky's lawyer is worried about bad publicity, it's not like it could get any worse."
