Live Show Alert: Kanye's Secret Weapon Bon Iver Plays in Raleigh, N.C. Friday (7/29)

Touring in support of his new doubly self-titled record.

As the media frenzy surrounding Justin Vernon’s new album Bon Iver, Bon Iver reaches a fever pitch, Kanye’s secret weapon from My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy is selling out shows across the country. The voice that created intricate, cascading melodies all over Mr. West’s masterpiece and inspired the vocal distortion across that album has stepped out on its own again, making Vernon a superstar in his own right.

After the quiet beauty of his last album, For Emma, Forever Ago, Vernon holed up in his native Wisconsin again, tinkering with a clutch of songs until they became a full-fledged novel of a record. He returns to Raleigh, N.C., this week, the town where he lived before retreating to the woods to make For Emma…, and it’s one of the few shows left on his tour that didn’t immediately sold out. If you’re anywhere near North Carolina, don’t sleep on this one.
