When Run Lola Run was released in 1998, it hit like a bomb: a fast-paced thriller with multiple endings, all equally nail-biting, and a powerfully kinetic soundtrack. Before Jason Statham turned Crank into a franchise, Franka Potente starred as Lola, a ruby-haired woman with 20 minutes to stop her boyfriend from robbing a bank after losing 10,000 deutsche marks that belonged to his mafia boss. The film is broken into three chapters, each detailing a different outcome to one of Lola’s “runs.” It's a love story peppered with violence and tension, stuffed with animated sequences and digital effects generated before the age of Pixar.
