A month after its debut on Dec. 4, Adele’s latest album 30 has now spent six consecutive weeks atop the Billboard Hot 200 charts.

According to Billboard, the album sold 99,000 equivalent units this past week, allowing it to maintain its spot. Rounding out the rest of the top 5 this week is also Taylor Swift’s Red (Taylor’s Version), Michael Buble’s Christmas album, Roddy Ricch’s latest project Live Life Fast, and Olivia Rodrigo’s Sour. A newcomer to the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 200 is also the soundtrack for the latest Disney+ movie Encanto.

One of the many things that can be attributed to 30’s success over the last month is how raw and honest the album is. It’s been five years since Adele dropped her previous album, 25, and her latest endeavor reflects how much she’s grown as a person as well as an artist. Tagging it as a “divorce album,” Adele spends 58-minutes reflecting on what it means to love, be alone, and persevere despite the emotional scars she has. This is all done over beautiful instrumentation and an impressive vocal showcase. We also ranked 30 in the top 5 of the best albums of last year.

As listeners continue to gravitate towards her earnest lyrics, it wouldn’t be a surprise if 30 continues its chart supremacy deeper into 2022. Along with the success of her album, Adele will also be hosting a residency in Las Vegas titled Weekends With Adele, which will take place each Friday and Saturday from Jan. 21 to April 16 at the famed Caesars Palace Hotel.
