"Old Town Road," which may very well remain the No. 1 song in the country for the rest of time, bagged another surprise live rendition over the weekend.

At the Boston Calling festival, Anderson .Paak welcomed Lil Nas X to the stage to perform his breakthrough hit after a well-played jam that tied the song to Ginuwine's "Pony." See fan-captured footage of the moment below.

Also over the weekend, X's dedication to fucking with preconceived notions regarding genre (an approach that will continue in upcoming collabs with Travis Barker and more) was shouted out by Post Malone.

"I think people should be able to fucking make whatever the hell they want to," he told a TMZ botherer when asked about the song's early country detractor. "You know, even now, in modern country there's a lot of 808s and shit, anyway . . . All the country artists now are rapping too. I don't really necessarily see the difference."

Earlier this month, X dropped off the cinematic "Old Town Road" video, complete with an appearance from Chris Rock. His new project, featuring the aforementioned Barker, is expected soon.
