CBS Denver reports a parked van was broken into in Denver’s Central Park neighborhood Thursday, and a blue-and-white box containing human heads was stolen.

Police believe the individual also swiped a dolly, along with the box that had a label which read, “Exempt Human Specimen.” Authorities are asking that if anyone spots the box to contact them immediately. “Pretty shocking. I guess I don’t see too many strange things happening around here usually, but you know you never know,” one local resident told KDVR. “Wow! I would have been so terrified.”

The box seemed to belong to Science Care, a program that accepts body donations for the purpose of scientific research.

The Denver Police Department shared a post on Facebook last week outlining how one can avoid falling victim to auto theft and theft from motor vehicle as it continues to be an issue in the city. According to KDVR, Colorado is the worst state for auto theft per capita, with instances in Denver jumping from 4,883 in 2019 to 10,675 in a matter of two years. This spike represents a 107 percent increase, and the problem has also impacted a number of counties, including Adams, Arapahoe, and Bloomfield.

As for the box of human heads, an investigation into the disappearance is ongoing, and as of this writing, no arrests have been made.
