Donald Trump Jr. Compares Syrian Refugees to Skittles

Only days after making an ill-advised gas chamber analogy, Donald Trump Jr. returns with another terrible comparison.

Only days after making a widely criticized statement invoking Nazi gas chambers, Donald Trump Jr. returned to the public stage with another controversial comparison. On Monday night, he tweeted a graphic, seen above, that compared Syrian refugees to Skittles. It read: "If I had a bowl of skittles [sic] and I told you just three would kill you. Would you take a handful? That's our Syrian refugee problem."

Trump Jr.'s graphic bore an official Trump/Pence campaign logo, and had obvious commonalities with Donald Trump's repeated calls for what he calls "extreme vetting" of immigrants. The graphic ignores, however, that Syrian refugees attempting to settle in the United States already face one of the strictest systems in the world, and that none of the three resettled refugees who have been arrested for terrorism have been from Syria.

Beyond any statistics, many were outraged at Trump Jr.'s comparisons of refugees to candy. Jon Favreau, former chief speechwriter for President Obama, was one of many people to make that point.

This image says it all. In 1939 900 Jews on ship fm Nazi Germany to USA were sent back. 25% died in Holocaust. Not skittles @DonaldJTrumpJr

A rep for @Skittles gives me their response to @DonaldJTrumpJr

Even Skittles themselves felt the analogy wasn't appropriate.
