Continuing the Trump campaign's legacy of propagating antisemitic and neo-Nazi sentiments, Donald Trump Jr. "joked" on Thursday that if Republicans told lies like the Trump campaign claims Hillary Clinton does, the media would be "warming up the gas chamber" for them.

Trump Jr. was ranting about the unfairness of the media due to a claimed innate liberal bias that has favored Hillary Clinton during election coverage (this is a popular criticism from the Trump campaign, despite a Harvard study that definitively demonstrated Trump's campaign was largely created by the media). "The media has been her [Clinton's] number one surrogate in this," Trump Jr. stated during an interview with 210 WPHT radio in Philadelphia, according to CBS

"Without the media, this wouldn’t even be a contest, but the media has built her up," Trump Jr. continued. "They’ve let her slide on every in-discrepancy, on every lie, on every DNC game trying to get Bernie Sanders out of this thing. If Republicans were doing that, they’d be warming up the gas chamber right now," making a clear reference to the gas chambers that the Nazis used to kill millions of Jews, gay people, Romani people, people with disabilities, and other marginalized groups.

Trump Jr. later told NBC the "joke" was not in reference to the Holocaust, but rather a reference to corporal punishment:

No word yet on how Trump Jr. (or anyone) would associate gas chambers with anything other than the Holocaust.
