Facebook and Instagram

Facebook and Instagram are partially down all over the world. And, to absolutely no one's surprise, social media users aren't pleased.

Down Detector seems to show Facebook issues all over the world, particularly in U.S. and Western Europe. #facebookdown https://t.co/EsbvrT2tcd pic.twitter.com/frb1KGCO10

According to USA Today the outages occurred Wednesday afternoon eastern time, in areas within the U.S., Europe, South America, and Asia. Though many people can still access these platforms, key features—such as messaging and new content posts—are not properly loading. Facebook, which owns Instagram, responded to the outages via Twitter on Wednesday. Though the company said its team was working to fix the issue, it did not give any indication as to when the features would be restored.

We’re aware that some people are currently having trouble accessing the Facebook family of apps. We’re working to resolve the issue as soon as possible.

At this time, it's unclear what caused the problems. Millions of people were reportedly affected.

You can check reactions to the outage in the tweets below.

Glad to know Twitter is reliable when Instagram is down. 👍🏼 Imagine a world where we couldn’t check @Twitter to verify that @instagram isn’t working #scary #instagramdown pic.twitter.com/jnigfmF1q6
