After George Zimmerman announced he would be auctioning off the gun he used to kill Trayvon Martin, people swarmed to the online listing to place bids as high as $65 million. United Gun Group, the site hosting the auction, has since utilized software to examine which offers were submitted by trolls, and a representative has confirmed toTMZ that the highest legitimate bid is $415,000. But that figure may soon go up, as Martin Shkreli has expressed interest in purchasing the gun.
The notorious "pharma bro" went to Twitter to explain the reason he would purchase the weapon, and it wouldn’t be to support Zimmerman. He insists that once he had the Kel-Tec PF-9 9mm handgun, he would either destroy it or put in a museum to remind people about the racism in the U.S.
This explanation, of course, upset Zimmerman’s supporters, who went off on Shkreli via Twitter, insisting Zimmerman's actions were warranted and not racist.
