Caitlyn Jenner Wants To Be Ted Cruz's "Trans Ambassador"

She thinks Ted Cruz is "very nice."

When it comes to trans equality and trans rights, the first person you think of might be Laverne Cox. The second might be Janet Mock, and the third is possibly Caitlyn Jenner. Nowhere on that list does Ted Cruz appear. Yet, in an interview with The Advocate, Jenner, who maintains she's a conservative, despite Republicans' generally dismal reputation for inclusivity, let it be known that Cruz has her full support as a presidential candidate. What's more, she'd love to work with a future President Cruz, particularly on trans issues.

Jenner has met Cruz once before and describes him—the same man who just last month said it's better to "inflict" trans students on teachers than on other students in school restrooms—as "very nice." She went on:

“Wouldn’t it be great, let’s say he goes on to be president,” she tells me in relating a conversation on the tour bus. “And I have all my girls on a trans issues board to advise him on making decisions when it comes to trans issues. Isn’t that a good idea?” she asked me.

On yesterday's Today show, Jenner reiterated that she "sits on the Republican side," and expressed interest in speaking to whoever the Republican nominee might be. She did admit, however, that "Democrats, as far as trans issues, are better than Republicans." That, friends, is what we call an understatement.
