Kanye West is reportedly skipping the 2017 Met Gala. A Met Gala source told People Monday that West would not be attending this year's fundraising event for the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute in New York City Monday, choosing instead to stay in Los Angeles with his and Kim Kardashian's children, North and Saint.
"It has nothing to do with the Met Gala," People's insider said. "It was more about the stress and pressure of a big red carpet. He just wasn't quite there yet." West, another source told People Sunday, is still "very much enjoying" time off from public events. Kardashian is still expected to attend this year's Met Gala. "Everything is great with him and Kim and he's supportive of her going solo," the source said.
Both West and Kardashian attended last year's Met Gala. West rocked some awesome, Marilyn Manson-esque contact lenses and Balmain. "I thought Balmain was the perfect choice for me and Kanye, especially," Kardashian told E! News on the 2016 red carpet. "I think Kanye's look is a little bit more downplayed with the denim mixed with all the Balmain bling." When asked about the lenses, West responded with a single word: "Vibes."
Following a 2016 that ended in a string of canceled Saint Pablo dates and a brief hospitalization, reports have surfaced that West is currently working on new music. In an interview with Fam in the Morning in February, G.O.O.D. Music president Pusha T confirmed that West was working on something.
Speaking with Complex in March, CyHi the Prynce added that the G.O.O.D. collab album Cruel Winter was "really done" and also mentioned that West was in the studio. "To be all the way honest with y'all, it's really done," CyHi said. "The thing is, it's so many superstars, to get everybody on one accord and moving at the same time is tough. We got enough to put a Cruel Winter, Cruel Summer, Cruel Autumn, and Cruel Spring out." Yes please.
