Kenneth Cole must fancy himself somewhat of a geopolitical expert on the Middle East. A few years ago, he posted this tweet about the Arab Spring, saying everyone was going crazy for his spring collection. Complete dick move. Then, with all the turmoil going on in Syria, the designer made another war reference, saying, "'Boots on the ground' or not, let's not forget about sandals, pumps and loafers. #Footwear." Yikes.
So, Cole came out and issued this clarification:

However, Cole is being criticized because even though he claims he attacks social issues, they all seem in the form of self-promotion, and not adding anything to the discussion. Well, who listens to someone who designs square-toe shoes anyway?
