Shepard Fairey has signed over story rights to RISD student Julian Marshall, to tell the story of how Fairey's OBEY empire began. Marshall started as Fairey's intern in 2009, helping him on a documentary that never came to fruition. Years later, Marshall offered him an alternative -- “I told him, why don’t we do a project that’s factually based but technically a narrative, so that it’s based on a true story.”
While the project has raised the thousands of dollars needed for production, Marshall has launched a Kickstarter to finance the post-production tasks of editing, mixing, and writing a score. [Artinfo]
