"Stick to sports" is a phrase that has been used early and often during the 2016 election season anytime a professional athlete, coach, or owner has spoken up on behalf of a presidential candidate. But fortunately, it hasn't stopped athletes from using their voices to lend their support to the candidate of their choice. Some, like Curt Schilling, Herschel Walker, and Mike Ditka, threw support behind Donald Trump, while others, like LeBron James, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Magic Johnson, vouched for Hillary Clinton. The election reportedly caused some rifts between certain athletes—this story about how Trump created a divide in some NFL locker rooms was interesting—but it didn’t stop them from going hard for the candidate they believed in.

It also didn’t stop the sports world from reacting alongside the rest of us once Trump was declared the winner of the election on Tuesday night. Athletes, coaches, owners, and more used social media to express their feelings on the outcome of the election and to let the world know how they felt about Trump becoming the next President of the United States of America. There are going to be a lot more reactions to come, but for now, here is how the sports world reacted to Trump’s historic presidential win:
