LeBron James has a lot at stake when it comes to Johnny Manziel on both a personal and professional level. On the personal side, LeBron has been friendly with Johnny Football for several years now, so he obviously wants to see him do well both on and off the football field. Professionally, LeBron’s marketing firm LRMRrepresents Manziel and, if Manziel isn’t able to keep himself out of trouble, it will be hard for the firm to find new marketing opportunities for him.
With all of that in mind, LeBron was just asked his opinion on the recent rumors surrounding Manziel, including the one about how he reportedly went to Las Vegas on Saturday night and tried to use a disguise to hide it. LeBron admitted that he hasn’t been keeping up with the ongoing Manziel saga, but he also said that Manziel is creating a lot of distractions for both himself and those around him.
“I’m not quite sure, I don’t know all the details on it. I’ve really kind of haven’t been all up on it, but I’ve heard a little of it,” LeBron said. “It’s just a distraction for not only himself, but for everyone that’s around him, including family, people that represent him, the people that are around him. And he’ll figure it out at some point. We all hope.”
LeBron has stood by Manziel in the past despite his off-the-field issues, and it’s clear he’s going to continue to do so. But it’ll be interesting to see how long he’s willing to stand behind him if he continues to make questionable decisions.
