J.R. Smith Didn't Want the Warriors To Lose So The Cavs Could End Their Streak On Christmas

J.R. Smith says what we were all thinking

J.R. Smith is a man of the people. Whether he's telling reporters that all he has to do is stand around and shoot to play alongside LeBron James to asking mistresses their opinion on the pipe, Smith usually tells it like it is. So when he told ESPN's Dave McMenamin that he was "upset" after the team that beat his Cleveland Cavaliers in last year's NBA Finals took the L at Milwaukee last night, you knew he was being real.

Smith was hopeful that the Golden State Warriors would keep their absurd undefeated streak going until Christmas Day, the scheduled time of their first rematch with the Cavaliers, so the Cavs could be the ones to end it. He told ESPN

"When it was a tough game against Boston, I was home watching the game and I was like, ‘Man, y’all got to pull this out. Y’all got to pull this out.’ I wanted them to go undefeated until they played us.”

Instead of facing the Warriors at 28-0, Smith and the Cavs could get them boasting a 27-1 record instead, which would still be pretty ridiculous. But we feel the sentiment, J.R., and it's cool to know that sometimes NBA players just want the exact same things that we do.
