We were right to be skeptical about the quote in question here. Tyler Conway of Bleacher Report spoke with someone at PodcastOne who revealed that Kobe does not call out Dwight Howard on Shaq's next podcast:

"I didn't appreciate Shaq until I played with Dwight."

More news is coming out of Kobe Bryant's appearance on Shaq's new podcast that's set to drop Monday. A couple days ago, it was reported that Kobe admitted to being an idiot when he was younger. The former Laker teammates have had a tumultuous relationship throughout the years but it was a successful one that resulted in three straight NBA titles. So when the Lakers traded for Dwight Howard in the summer of 2012 to play alongside Kobe and Steve Nash, expectations went through the roof. It was championship or bust. It was supposed to be Kobe and Shaq the Sequel. Instead life came at them fast.

The Kobe/Nash/Howard era was a disaster. No one was healthy and Dwight and Kobe couldn't get along. Mainly because Howard—who at the time was arguably the game's best center—didn't have the same hunger to win as Bryant. Their relationship and the pressure to win in L.A. caused Dwight to sign with the Houston Rockets the very next offseason.
