adidas’ ‘There Will Be Haters’ campaign has featured the likes of Luis Suarez, Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema and Diego Costa, all silencing those who run their mouths about them. But the latest advert features the biggest name on the adidas roster: Lionel Messi.
A hooded Messi stares down the camera while an off-screen voice tells him he’ll never make it, he’ll never win a Ballon d’Or, and he’ll never be the best. But of course, we all know he will be. Because he’s Lionel Messi.
Obviously, if you can get Lionel Messi to be in your advert, you’re going to put him in there. But he seems a slightly strange choice for the Haters campaign. Luis Suarez, Diego Costa and even Gareth Bale have haters. But does anyone hate on Lionel Messi? He’s the best player in the world, and it seems like a genuinely really nice guy as well.
