When the Bulls announced that Derrick Rose was going to have to undergo surgery on his right knee to repair a torn meniscus earlier this week, NBA fans thought the worst. Most people assumed that he would be out for the remainder of the 2014-15 NBA season, while others questioned whether or not he'd ever be able to play basketball again. But it sounds like his injury isn't that bad, after all.

Earlier today, Rose underwent successful surgery. And after it was over, Bulls general manager Gar Forman revealed that Rose was able to walk out of the hospital under his own power. He also said that the Bulls expect him to be able to play again with the next four to six weeks. And while that means he'll still probably miss most of the rest of the regular season, it also means that he most likely won't be out for the entire season and definitely won't be sidelined forever due to his latest injury.

Obviously, that could change, depending on how his rehab goes. But after the scare that Rose gave everyone a few days ago, it's good to hear that he'll be back on the court sooner than expected.
