After seeing their alumnus Aaron Hernandez get into that much trouble, you'd think the Florida Gators would be able to start the college football season with a clean slate right? Nope. The football program had to suspend six of its players for Saturday's opening game against Toledo. Two of those suspensions were because of failed drug tests.
Of those six suspensions, the most notable was to star cornerback Loucheiz Purifoy—one of the best in the nation at his position. The junior failed a drug test and will sit against a Toledo squad with a solid passing game.
The other benched players include starting middle linebacker Antonio Morrison, backup wide receiver Latroy Pittman (the other player to fail a drug test), linesman Quinteze Williams, and defenstive tackles Darious Cummings and Jaynard Boswick. Morrison already got in trouble this summer when he was charged with battery for allegedly punching a bouncer and for the ridiculous offense of barking at a dog.
Will these suspensions play be that much of a factor, since the Gators are playing against a team who's never faced an SEC opponent?
