8. Larry Bird (1986)
Team: Boston Celtics
Opponent: Houston Rockets
Result: Celtics over Rockets, 4-2
Finals stats: 24.0 PPG, 9.7 RPG, 9.5 APG, 2.7 SPG
Capping off one of the greatest seasons in NBA history, the Celtics and Larry Bird knocked off the Houston Rockets in a hard-fought Finals. If you round off, Bird averaged a triple-double en route to winning MVP honors, a total otherwise not seen in Finals history. While he played well in each game, it was his Game 6 performance that cemented his legend. With revenge on his mind after the Rockets' Ralph Sampson threw several punches at Celtics reserve guard Jerry Sichting in Game 5, Bird came out firing as he finished Houston off with a triple-double of 29 points, 11 rebounds, and 12 assists. The Celtics opened up an 18-point halftime lead and cruised from there, cementing Bird's much-deserved MVP award.
