Up until this week, the Detroit Tigers' offseason has been a jolly break filled with plenty of well-deserved awards for star pitcher Justin Verlander. With news that Victor Martinez tore his ACL, Verlander will have to adjust to an unfamiliar glove at the receiving end of his fastballs for the majority of this season. The Tigers announced that Martinez injured his left knee in conditioning last week and expects to undergo surgery after a second opinion. Martinez, who is 33 years old, hit .330 and knocked in 103 runs in 2011.
