Gal Gadot Speaks to Her Israeli Roots in ‘SNL' Monologue

Wonder Woman Gal Gadot speaks to her Israeli roots in Hebrew on SNL.

32-year-old Israeli actress and model Gal Gadot, best known for the blockbuster Wonder Woman, hosted tonight's episode of Saturday Night Live. The musical host for the evening was Sam Smith. The U.K. singer recently announced the title of his upcoming sophomore studio album The Thrill of It All and dropped the single “Pray." 

Gadot's opening monologue touched on her Israeli heritage, speaking to the camera in Hebrew and exclaiming that SNL was being aired in Israel for the first time. During her introduction she told the camera that, "Americans know nothing about Israel." Her reasoning being, "In every shot they have me eating hummus." Gadot was then met on stage by Leslie Jones who was clad in a Wonder Woman ensemble. The two jokingly went back and forth about the powers Wonder Woman possesses. When Gal reminded fans that Wonder Woman has a "lasso that makes people tell the truth," Leslie hilariously reminded the crowd, "bitch I got vodka."

Wonder Woman, which was released on June 2, 2017 in the U.S., made a huge amount of money and dominated the box office upon its release breaking the record for biggest box office opening for a film directed by a woman. The film, which was directed by Patty Jenkins, made $100.5 million domestically in its opening weekend. Wonder Woman also starred Chris Pine, Robin Wright, Danny Huston, David Thewlis, Connie Nielsen and Elena Anaya. ​

Gadot will reprise her role of Wonder Woman in the upcoming film Justice League. The film should be out November 17, 2017.
