Sony has temporarily taken down the newest version of 4.45 system update that was suppose to provide "improved system stability" after a number of issues were reported by users, worst of which seemed to be users being bricked-out of their systems.

While the problem could be worked-around by starting in safe mode the freak-out was overwhelming. PlayStation Europe tweeted out a series of Tweets this morning:

"Hi guys, we're aware of reports that the recent PS3 update (4.45) has caused...We have temporarily taken 4.45 offline and are investigating. We will announce when the system update is available for download as soon as possible and we apologise for the inconvenience."

We'll keep you updated as more information comes in.
