The National Partk Service had just opened the Statue of Liberty following a $30 million renovation, and now flooding from Hurricane Sandy has closed it indefinitely. Lady Liberty didn't sustain any damage, but the Statue of Liberty site and Ellis Island were flooded by the New York Harbor, and both the docks and grounds need repair. Federal inspectors were supposed to asses the damage over the weekend, but a target date for reopening has yet to be released to the public.
