66-year-old John Wise walked into the intensive care unit of of an Akron, OH, hospital and reportedly shot his 65-year-old wife, Barbara. Police believe the shooting may have been a mercy killing, suggesting that Wise may have wanted to end her suffering. The couple had been married for 45 years.
According to a spokesman for Akron General Medical Center, one shot was fired, and security officers made it to the room in about a minute flat. Barabara Wise remains in critical condition; John Wise was arrested on attempted murder charges. He is expected to be arraigned today.
