Earlier this month, Iraq and Afghanistan war veteran Kayvan Sabeghi was beaten so brutally by Oakland Police that he suffered a lacerated spleen. He was also kept in a police van for three hours before being taken to jail, and apparently denied medical attention for almost 18 hours. A video of the beating has finally surfaced, and it ain't pretty.
Sabeghi underwent surgery for his injuries, and Oakland Police are currently investigating the beating. He isn't the first veteran injured by police at Occupy Oakland, as Scott Olsen was hit in the head with a gas canister just days before. Olsen was at risk for severe brain damage, but checked in last week to let the world that know that he's doing fine.
