Earlier today, Nick Jonas announced the title, tracklist, and release date for his upcoming album Last Year Was Complicated. The album is set to come out on June 10. He also spilled some personal details about the album, saying "When I first started making I thought I knew what it would be about... Then I had a breakup. It then became very clear what this thing would be about... And that I would need to dig really deep. Shit is too real sometimes... Reliving some of these real life experiences through this music is hard. But I know it's important that I do it. I want to be an open book in my art.."

With that in mind, he decided to unleash the album's first single, "Close" f/ Tove Lo. He gave us some more details about his feelings on the song on Twitter also, saying the song was about how "I literally can't open up and be vulnerable with someone." The theme certainly seems reflected in the track. "Space was just a word made up by someone who's afraid to get close/Oh so close," he sings in the chorus, before Tove Lo comes in to lament about her own communication problems. Things get even more heated in the video that sees the two covered in mud and rolling around on the ground as they struggle to hold onto each other with every close and carefully choreographed move.

Aside from the details about the album's recording process, he also gave some hints about who would be on it.

What role each artist will play remains to be seen. Ty Dolla $ign in particular is known for his songwriting contributions to other artists, so it's possible he won't show up as a feature but as a songwriter. However, it's certainly possible that each person will have a feature on the album.

While we wait for June 10, you can watch the Complex cover star's new video for "Close" f/ Tove Lo above or get a copy when you preorder the album on iTunes here.
