After recording a tribute song for Baltimore, Prince is headed to the city with his longtime band, 3RDEYEGIRL, for a special concert. The "Rally 4 Peace" show is set for this Sunday (May 10) at Royal Farms Arena. Prince's goal is to use this concert as a "catalyst for pause and reflection" after the killing of Freddie Gray and the ensuing protests. Fans are encouraged to show up wearing gray as tribute.
Prince has yet to release his song for Baltimore, but he has let go of the lyrics via the Minneapolis-St. Paul Fox TV affiliate:
Nobody got in nobody's way
So eye guess u could say
It was a good day
At least a little better than the day in Baltimore
Does anybody hear us pray?
4 Michael Brown or Freddie Gray peace is more than the absence of war
Absence of war
R we gonna c another bloody day?
We're tired of cryin' & people dyin'
Let's all take the guns away
Absence of war—U and Me
Maybe we can finally say
Enuff is enuff it's time 4 love
It's time 2 hear,
It's time 2 hear
The guitar play! (guitar solo)
It seems likely Prince will debut the song at the Baltimore show. Tickets will go on sale on LiveNation tomorrow (May 6) at 5 p.m. EST.
