Tonight, the 2014 Oscars are taking place in Hollywood, California, and, to liven the show up, the producers scheduled several musical performances. In addition to performances from P!nk and Bette Midler, the show also features Best Original Song nominees U2, Karen O of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs (along with Vampire Weekend's Ezra Koenig), Idina Menzel of Frozen and Pharrell, whose single "Happy" appeared in the movie Despicable Me 2 and also recently hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
For the performance, Pharrell brought back his now-famous Grammy hat, and he performed with a broad cast of backup dancers that brought out a bit of a "Soul Train" vibe. He also headed into the audience to dance with stars like Meryl Streep and, critically, Best Supporting Actress nominee Lupita Nyong'o, yielding the following amazing GIFs:
