Quincy Jones is suing Sony Records and Michael Jackson Productions (MJJ) over royalties to Jackson's catalog of music. Jones claims that as the producer of Off The Wall, Thriller, and Bad, he shares ownership of the music with Jackson's Estate. However, in editing and remixing music for the This Is It movie, Jackson's Cirque Du Soleil show, and the 25th Anniversary of Bad, Sony and MJJ have allegedly denied Jones a share of the royalties.
The Michael Jackson Estate has denied these allegations. "To the best of our knowledge, Mr. Jones has been appropriately compensated over approximately 35 years for his work with Michael," said Howard Weitzman, lawyer for the Estate.
