Waka Flocka has plans to make an EDM album. "It's already in motion," he told Hip-Hop DX in an interview published earlier today.

“Club jumpin’ like I’m Skrillex, get ‘em Diplo...” The King of Rap EDM is me. I’ve been there. Punk Rap, that’s EDM. People didn’t understand what I was saying, now they do. I see a lot of my students, I’m like the principal, I’m here to talk.

Are you going to do an EDM-based album then?

Yes. Yes. It’s already in the motion. Flosstradamus, Diplo, Skrillex. Some underground people, too. I want to create a name. I’ve been doing it in hip-hop so long.

Waka's crossover to EDM is probably a smart business move; the EDM circuit still rakes in money, and Waka's traction with hip-hop audiences seems to ebbing to some degree; although he retains a loyal fanbase (who he no doubt hopes will support his upcoming Flockaveli II) his meteoric impact on the sound of hip-hop is now a a couple years distant, and other artists—particularly Future and producer Mike Will—have reshaped the genre in his lane.
