The Grammys' Biggest Hip-Hop Mistakes: Snubs, Errors, and Embarrassments

Black Eyed Peas wins Best Rap Performance Duo/Group in 2005 and 2006

In 2005, the Black Eyed Peas won for "Let's Get It Started," a pop-rap radio banger, for sure. But that was over Beastie Boys' "Ch-Check It Out," Snoop Dogg and Pharrell's "Drop It Like It's Hot," Terror Squad's "Lean Back" and The Roots' "Don't Say Nuthin'." Yes, out of those fantastic nominees, the BEP nailed it. And then, in 2006, "Don't Phunk With My Heart" landed them the same award-instead of Common's "The Corner," Eminem, Dre, and 50 Cent's "Encore," Ying Yang Twins' "Wait (The Whisper Song)" but none more surprising than The Game and 50 Cent's "Hate It or Love It." Come on, Grammys. Two years in a row, and even five years later it's hard to really decipher any differences between the Black Eyed Peas songs, no more so than when they're winning Grammys.
