The panel already picked the Rookie of The Year and the Most Improved Rapper, but this category was a little more tricky. The "Sixth Man" is the award for that role player in the game who steps up when necessary—someone who's setting themselves up for a starting position in the future. After considering a few options, the guys settled on a choice that may come as a surprise.

The tastemakers include Complex's own Joe La Puma, as well as Brian “B. Dot” Miller (Rap Radar), Neil Ceasar (Digiwaxx), Jayson Rodriguez (XXL Magazine), Jeff Sledge (A&R/Allindstrom.com), and Combat Jack (PNC Radio).
