Last fall, Richie Hawtin performed for Raf Owens and Dior at an annual fundraiser held at NYC's landmark Guggenheim Museum. Then December came and it was reported that Richie had gotten over a creative drought and recorded an entirely new Plastikman album in just five days. Now this coming July, that specialness is being released for wide-distribution in the form of a new Plastikman album—the first in over a decade.

In an interview with Socéite Perrier the Canadian producer announced he's ready to unveil a new chapter in his Plastikman project. After an 11-year drought, Richie Hawtin, the man behind Plastikman, said that his recent gig at NYC's Guggenheim was the catalyst for newfound creative inspiration saying it "put me back in the studio and inspired me enough to work on new material, and in five days I created a new album." No additional details have been revealed, but keep your eyes peeled.

This was one of the biggest EDM moments at the 2013 SXSW Festival, where the SXSW Interactive conference (which featured Richie Hawtin and Deadmau5 talking "techno and technology") was to be capped off with a back-to-back "stripped-back techno set" from Hawtin and Deadmau5. From this amateur footage (which includes a random conversation with some guy who rocks glasses to "look sexy"), it looks like they delivered. Hopefully someone captured all of this set in video or audio form.

Not only will Deadmau5 and Richie Hawtin be hosting a discussion about techno and technology on March 12 during the 2013 SXSW Festival, it has been announced that they will be performing a special back-to-back "stripped-back techno set" to close out the SXSW interactive event. This should be, if nothing else, a definite site to see. Richie Hawtin's been in the game for a while, and Deadmau5 has a tendency to get minimal at times. It'll definitely be historic.
