When we got word that Benga was retiring from DJing, one of the questions we immediately had was "well, what's going on with the Skream & Benga show?" That answer came in the form of an official statement we obtained from BBC Radio 1, saying that Benga was also leaving the show. At the time of the retirement, Skream had commended Benga for his decision, but we'd not heard word from him regarding the radio show... until this recent interview with inthemix.

Yesterday, the bass music community was rocked when Benga announced that his "djing career was finished" via a short Facebook update. One of the immediate questions, aside from "does this mean he's going to stop producing as well?" was what would happen to the Skream & Benga show, which has been airing on Friday nights at 11PM on BBC Radio 1 since April of 2012. We did some asking around, and got the following statement from a spokesperson at Radio 1.

Benga recently traveled to India bringing his massive pioneering dubstep wobbles along with him. "Choose 1" was already pegged by DAD as one of the highlights of Benga's Chapter II album, and now Laxx toughens the track up with this special remix. Youngman is front and center, but instead of the more melodic bounce, we get heavier drums, deeper bassdrops, and the main melody being pushed a bit back. It's still as big as it ever was, but has a more sinister, moody vibe to it. This one seems to be pretty hot off the presses, so who knows when it'll drop.
