Speedy, our resident baller at Complex, has been living out his basketball dreams this summer, going through the draft process and squaring off against the NBA’s best young talent. With a reputation of welcoming all comers, rapper Dave East laid down a challenge that Speedy couldn’t refuse: a game of 1-on-1 for a pair of Air Jordan XXXIs in the “Banned” colorway.

East, a former college hooper (who played D1 ball at Towson University), has made a name for himself in the rap game, signing with Nas’ Mass Appeal Record label and being selected to XXL’s famed Freshman Class in 2016. He most recently dropped the banger “All Summer,” a prelude to his highly anticipated mixtape Kairi Chanel. But for now, he’s taking his talents back to the court—specifically Jordan’s NYC court at Terminal 23—where he’ll go toe-to-toe with a Complex employee who just inked his first NBA contract.

Does East’s height and college experience give him the advantage or will Speedy’s quickness and confidence keep his Cinderella story alive? It’s first to 16. Peep the video to find out who emerges victorious.
