With the iPhone 7 just barely on shelves across the world, why the heck not start speculating about the next incarnation of the iPhone now, a year before it will be available for purchase? Apple Insider reported that the iPhone 8 will come in the brand's standard two sizes and that glass will be involved in the design.
The iPhone 8 will come in 4.7-inch and and 5.5-inch sizes, according to Apple Insider, but there were rumors on Wednesday that there will be a third size available. The anonymous source who spoke with Apple Insider said that the company is currently exploring a "glass sandwich" design for the casing, but is looking into other options if the glass doesn't pan out.
The glass front and back of the phone will possibly be supported by metal frames on the sides, which MacRumors speculates will be either aluminum or stainless steel.
As far as the guts: MacRumors surmises that the phone will be both faster, more efficient. It will also possibly have long-distance wireless charging (wouldn't we all just settle for a better normal battery, though?) and facial recognition features.
The iPhone 8 is set to drop in 2017.
