Here's Everywhere That's Offering Free Rides on New Year's Eve

New Year's Eve is a night of joy and celebration, part of which means people will be getting extremely intoxicated. To keep you safe and your wallet full, here's where to get free/discounted rides to and from your destinations,

California

For California residents, the Los Angeles Metro system is offering free bus and rail services from 9 p.m. on Dec. 31 to 2 a.m. on Jan. 1. People in Orange Country can get $10 off two Lyft rides by using the code: "OCNYE" between 8 p.m. on December 31 to 4 a.m. on January 1.

The city of San Diego has partnered with Coca-Cola to give free metro service after 6 p.m. on New Year's Eve. In the Bay, San Francisco is offering free Muni service from 8 p.m. on Dec. 31 to 5 a.m. on Jan. 1. while the BART will have extended hours. 

New York/New York City

In New York City, Lyft and the senators of Long Island have come together to give travelers $10 off two Lyft rides by using the promo code: "LONGISLANDNYE." This code is effective through Jan. 1.

For those upstate, the City of Albany has teamed up with Martin, Harding & Mazzotti, LLP to provide free cab rides home to people that have been drinking. This is a "no-questions-asked" promotion that will service Albany, Schenectady, Troy, and Saratoga Springs, and other surrounding cities. Fulton County, Montgomery County, Utica, Plattsburgh, NY, Burlington, VT, and Springfield, MA will also host free cab promotions. 

Chicago

The Chicago Transit Authority will offer free rail and bus services. This will be provided in partnership with Miller Lite and will extend from 10 p.m. on Dec. 31. to 4 a.m. on Jan. 1. 

Houston

Houston's metro rail, bus, and lift services will be free after 5 p.m. and the code "NYEHOU2020" will get riders $10 off their Lyft. 

Other Locations

AAA has created a holiday promotion called Tipsy Tow. This is a free program for both AAA customers and non-members. AAA will tow your car for free for 10 miles and will also give you a ride home. It is not available in every state, but Tipsy Tow has a variety of service locations that are listed on the AAA website. 

People in Portland can get $20 off of cab rides when they present a paper coupon. Also, promo code "PDXSRH19" will get you $10 off your Lyft ride.

Indianapolis Lyft users can get $10 off their rides by using the code: " JACKAPPLENYE."

In Washington, D.C., residents can get up to $15 off one ride home by using the code that is listed on Washington Regional Alcohol Program's website. 

People celebrating in Dallas and Austin, Texas will receive free metro access for New Year's Eve from their respective services.
