As residents of Puerto Rico struggle to find adequate water, food, and shelter, they can breathe easy now knowing that Donald Trump just dedicated the Presidents Cup golf trophy to them. Before presenting the trophy to U.S. captain Steve Strickler following their Presidents Cup victory, Trump said a few words which is always a bad idea.

"On behalf of all of the people of Texas, if you look today and you see what's happening, how horrible it is, but we have it under really great control, Puerto Rico and the people of Florida that have really suffered over this short period of time with the hurricanes," Trump said, according to The Washington Examiner. "I want to just remember them. And we're going to dedicate this trophy to all of those people that went through so much that we love, a part of our great state and really a part of our great nation."

This has to be a joke, right? What is a piece of hardware going to do for all those who were affected by Hurricane Harvey, Maria, and Irma? Unless they can pawn the trophy for money that they can put towards something like food or water, this dedication is incredibly pointless. A trophy isn't going to bring back these people's homes. A trophy isn't going to provide the appropriate nourishment needed to stay alive.

How about this? Instead of trying to "just remember them," why not take it a step further and try to help them? Just a thought.
