President-elect Donald Trump, who has refused to attend security briefings leading up to his swearing in less than a month from now, decided it would be like, a really smart idea to tweet about nuclear weapons on Thursday. Trump wrote, "The United States must greatly strengthen and expand its nuclear capability until such a time as the world comes to its senses regarding nukes."

The terrifying tweet elicited a frenzy of replies from progressives. In a string of responses to Trump, Upworthy writer Parker Molloy pointed out that the U.S. already has many more nuclear warheads than other Western nations, only being beat out by Russia.

Erick Fernandez, an editorial fellow with the Huffington Post noted how absurd it was for Trump to even think of getting into the seriousness of our nuclear program in so few words:

This isn't a game, @realDonaldTrump. We don't need more nukes! The world doesn't need more! Have you literally never opened a history book?!

Civil rights activist Danielle Muscato replied to Trump's tweet raising a sense of urgency about his apparent plan to add even more nuclear warheads to our country's already large arsenal:
