Even Stephen Hawking Can't Explain Donald Trump's Popularity

"He’s a demagogue who seems to appeal to the lowest common denominator."

Professor Stephen Hawking might be the smartest person on the planet, and has written a definitive book on the creation of the universe, but even he says he cannot work out why Donald Trump is so popular.

Hawking was a guest on Good Morning Britain this morning, and given the opportunity to quiz such a great mind, they asked is he could explain why Trump has done so well in the Presidential race so far. Hawkins replied:

I can’t. He’s a demagogue who seems to appeal to the lowest common denominator.

He also explained why he thought it was vital that Britain remained in the EU:

Gone are the days when we could stand on our own, against the world. We need to be part of a larger group of nations, both for our security and our trade. The possibility of our leaving the EU has already led to a sharp fall in the pound, because the markets judge that it will damage our economy.

Im March, Hawking said that leaving the European Union would be a disaster for science.
