It looks like the thief who stole from the famous 3,000-square-foot closet might be the real victim. In a strange twist, the burglar who lifted luxury items from Theresa Roemer’s now well-known closet is claiming that the items stolen are all fakes.
The alleged thief contacted the Houston Press, and later sent a few of the stolen goods to the paper, to follow up on a threat to blackmail Roemer after a failed extortion attempt. Masking his voice with a modulator, he told the press, "I requested over half a million dollars [from Roemer] to return her items and not expose her to the news. During the meet, it seemed as if she contacted authorities. The deal never went through. I'm following through with my threat."
He even sent a couple items in so the newspaper could inspect the alleged counterfeit goods. Roemer believes the thief failed to sell the stolen goods after the story of the burglary became big news. After being publicized all over media, we don’t think anyone would want any of the items, real or fake.
