New York-based graphic designer and graduate student Jennifer Beatty was tasked by her professor with creating a "100 Days" project, an assignment that requires her to perform one artistic operation every day for one hundred days. Beatty’s grand project is called “100 Hoopties,” (hooptie is slang for old bike). She has been scavenging for hoopties and other discarded bike pieces around her neighborhood and re-purposing those parts to recreate famous logos and posters. So far, she’s done MTV, Adidas, the Detroit Red Wings logo, Rene Magritte’s The Son of Man painting, and many others.
