One of our favorite artists from Africa, the Moroccan-born, London based artist Hassan Hajjaj is gearing up for his first New York City exhibition. The self-taught Hajjaj will present a series of photographs (a few seen above) along with a collection of limited edition objects and a video at the New York City’s Taymour Grahne Gallery in Tribeca. Apparently, Hajjaj will transform the gallery’s lower space into a “signature lounge” as well.
The show is titled “Kesh Angels,” “Kesh” being slang for Marrakesh, the fourth-largest city in Morocco. Focusing on how the women of Morocco have made street culture there more vibrant, “Kesh Angels” shows a biker culture visually rich and fascinating.
“Kesh Angels” opens January 28 and runs until March 2.
