The Park Avenue Armory in New York City has completed its renovations of the Board of Officers room, part of a $200 million renovation led by architects Herzog & De Meuron. The goal here was to bring the 19th-century feel of the Armory’s history together with modern elements of design for a new performance space and exhibition. The room is one of the 18 period rooms in the Armory, this one having fallen into disrepair through water damage and neglect.

The revamp of the original gilded-age design was unveiled to the public on September 29. Now, the Armory approaches its October recital season that includes chamber music “the way it was originally meant to be experienced...in one of the most important American Aesthetic Movement interiors in the country.” Vilde Frang and Michail Lifits will perform an all-Mozart program from October 21 to October 23, and Anton Batagov will perform Morton Feldman’s Triadic Memories October 25 to October 27.
