The Museum of Contemporary Arts in Los Angeles has announced that actress Sharon Stone will host the 8th MOCA Award to Distinguished Women in the Arts Luncheon. The event will honor Los Angeles artists Lita Albuquerque, Betye Saar, Nancy Rubins, and Helen Pashgian for their "extraordinary talents and contributions to the arts." Last year's event was hosted by Maria Shriver and honored photographer Annie Leibovitz, with Yoko Ono, Barbara Kruger, and Anjelica Huston receiving awards in previous years. Citing Stone's career as an actress and her humanitarian efforts, the museum welcomed her to host the event as an individual who posesses the same qualities as the award recipients.
The November 6 luncheon also serves as a fundraiser for the "Contemporary Art Start," one of MOCA's professional development programs that serves 4000 students and 110 teachers a year. For more information about the luncheon and MOCA's development programs, visit The Curve.
