Check Out the Textured Patterns on the World's First 3D Printed Skateboard

Discover the design potential.

3D printing seems to know no limits. Dutch artist Sam Abbott and Nick Allen of 3DPrintUK have created and built the world's first ever 3D printed skateboard. The completed project features an amazing textured pattern on the bottom, depicting a jumble of abstract faces. Although the piece was built more for sculptural purposes, it is strong enough to support cruising and is fully functional on this level.

The deck is composed of three separate 3D printed pieces, which are joined together with glue and connector pins. All the other usual hardware, trucks, bearings, and wheels follow, topped off with griptape for safe cruising. Although the skateboard cannot withstand any ollies, it is still an exciting concept that harbors great design potential.
