Two Rodin Sculptures Sell for $16 Million at a Sotheby's Auction in New York

That's some serious dough.

Two Auguste Rodin sculptures from his masterpiece "The Gates of Hell" have been sold in total for more than $16 million. The works were sold at a Sotheby's auction in New York City. The famous sculpture entitled "The Thinker" sold for $15.3 million, which set a new record for the statue. However Sotheby's hasn't announced who acquired the figure. "Ugolino and His Children," also sold sold for $965,000.

It seems like art can still sell pretty well. One of Jean-Michel Basquiat's Untitled 1981 pieces sold for $26,402,500 through Christie's in November of last year. Also, Andy Warhol's Statue of Liberty work was bought for $43,762,500 in the same month.
